 Background

Dr. Erica Wilson

My mission is to assist my clients in having a satisfying and healthy life that minimizes the harmful effects of stress. I strongly advocate addressing emotional and behavioral problems before they become debilitating psychological conditions.

I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist for 9 years with clients ranging from 18 to 80 years old. Initially, I conducted psychological assessments and therapy with individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury and other physical injury. I taught my clients to cope with disability, pain, depression, and anxiety in the context of a major life-altering event.

After a few years, I was burned-out. The good news was, I had learned that the clinical method of understanding and treating severe problems could be successfully adapted to everyday life problems and stresses that don’t require a diagnosis. Also, serious psychological conditions could be limited or prevented by providing this kind of education and guidance to anyone interested in using it. I had discovered a way to increase the number of people I could help and avoid burnout at the same time.

Four years ago, I created a health and wellness practice to improve my clients’ coping skills and reduce their daily stress by using a holistic approach that integrated mind-body principles, relaxation techniques, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UCLA in 1994 and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Kent State University in 1999. I completed a two-year fellowship in Neuropsychological and Psychodiagnostic Assessment at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Hospital before becoming a California Licensed Clinical Psychologist in 2001.

I follow the rigorous professional and ethical standards dictated and regulated by the State of California Professional Board of Psychology and the American Psychological Association.

Personal Interests and Hobbies

I have participated in the Revlon Run to fight women’s cancers for the past 8 years and am currently training for my third Nike Half Marathon to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

I try to practice some form of meditation and mindfulness everyday.

I’m a big fan of Executive Boxing and enjoy the grueling work-outs a couple of times a week.
